How to play Prism Runner.

Two inputs, three colors, one rule: same-color is real, off-color is a fade. Master the shift and you'll feel the entire game open up — combos, powers, Prism Mode, and the leaderboard.

// controls · CRYSTAL CAVE

Hold left. Tap right.

The world scrolls forward on its own. Your two thumbs handle the rest.

  • Hold the left half of the screen to climb against gravity. Release to fall. The longer you hold, the higher you climb — momentum carries.
  • Tap the right half to phase from cyan → magenta → yellow → cyan. Each tap costs zero — shift as often as you like.
  • That's it. No menus mid-run, no special inputs, no double-tap combos. Two thumbs, two actions, infinite expression.
// the loop · NEON GRID

Color is the puzzle.
The shift is the verb.

You're always in one of three dimensions. Crystals and obstacles only interact in your active dimension. Everything off-color fades to a non-lethal, non-collectable outline. Every shift asks the same question: which color dodges this hazard and collects those crystals?

  • Same-color crystal: +1 to combo, score, and crystal bank.
  • Same-color obstacle: lethal. Run over.
  • Off-color crystal: dotted outline, passes through.
  • Off-color obstacle: dotted outline, also passes through.
  • Every hazard telegraphs for 0.5–1.5 seconds before going lethal — skill expression over reflex spam, no cheap deaths. Biome hazards are lethal in every color, so dodge them with movement; shifting only phases past obstacles and crystals.
// powers · AURORA RIFT

Four same-color = a power.

Collect four crystals of the same color in a row and that color's power triggers automatically. No menu, no prompt — just a wave of effect across the screen.

CYAN · 5s

Hyperdrive

The world doubles in speed and your ship glows. Pure score-rush — every crystal you snag is worth more during Hyperdrive. Best stacked when you can already see the next dimension lane.

MAGENTA · 6s

Shield

One same-color collision becomes survivable. Lets you commit to a risky route — or scrape past a hazard you misread. The shield consumes itself on hit; if you don't get hit, it just expires.

YELLOW · 7s

Magnet

All same-color crystals fly to you across a wide radius. Massive combo extender — chain through clusters you'd otherwise have to dodge around. Stacks beautifully with Hyperdrive.

// prism mode · CHERRY BLOSSOM

Chain ten. Claim Prism.

A combo of ten in the same dimension flips the world rainbow. Every color is collectable. Every crystal is worth 10×. Lasts ten seconds. The single biggest leaderboard mover in the game — protect your combo, time the shifts, and ride it.

  • You don't need to tell the game when to start Prism Mode — it triggers automatically at combo 10.
  • Your combo resets if you miss a same-color crystal in your active dimension. Off-color near-misses are fine.
  • Stack with Hyperdrive for the highest single-run scores. Magnet lets you guarantee the chain.
// five ways to play

One mechanic. Five different runs.

FLAGSHIP

Endless

Pure score chase. Difficulty scales as you survive — crystal density climbs, telegraph windows tighten, biomes cycle every 22 seconds. Most leaderboard runs come from here.

DAILY

Daily Challenge

Same world, same seed, same biome for every player worldwide. You get one attempt, ranked against the global field. Resets at midnight UTC.

TIMED

Time Trial

Three minutes. The multiplier escalates as the clock drops — 1× through to a minute left, then 2× → 3× → 5× as 60s, 30s, and 10s tick by. Last ten seconds are where runs are won.

RELAX

Zen

No-fail. Collisions don't end the run; they just reset your combo. Best for learning a new biome's hazards or just enjoying the audio.

REHEARSAL

Practice

Start at any score you choose. Useful for drilling end-game speeds without surviving the early ramp every time.

// boosts · PRO EDITION

Bring up to four boosts to a run.

Pro Edition unlocks four pre-run buffs. Powers are earned in-run; boosts are committed before you start. Mix and match — there's no "right" loadout.

INVISIBILITY · 8s

Ghost Mode

Go invisible. Phase through every obstacle for eight seconds. Same-color crystals still register as collectables, so combos stay alive while you fly through walls.

SAFETY NET · up to 12s

Prism Clone

One-hit extra life. Absorbs the first lethal collision and shatters the obstacle, then ends. Best on long-survival attempts where one miss-read shouldn't end your night.

SLOW-MO · 7s

Time Fracture

Slow time and double the crystal score for seven seconds. The combo extender — crystals you'd usually graze become trivially collectable while everything moves at half-pace.

PANIC BUTTON · 10s

Dimensional Maelstrom

Screen-clearing detonation. Shatters every obstacle on screen and keeps clearing new ones in front of you for ten seconds. Buys you a clean slate when you've over-committed.

Each boost unlocks at a score milestone or can be bought outright with crystals. Pro Edition unlocks all four immediately, no grind. More on Pro →

// accessibility

Color-blind support is always on.

Each dimension has both a color and a glyph. The glyph is baked into every crystal, obstacle, HUD pip, and dimension badge — you never need to read color alone.

Reduce motion and reduce transparency in iOS Settings are both respected — the game adapts visual flourishes when those are enabled.

// pro tips

The leaderboard moves like this.

  • Plan the next shift, not the current one. Look two clusters ahead. The current screen is usually too late to respond to.
  • Don't chase off-color crystals. They're fade outlines — you can't collect them. Stay focused on your active dimension's spawns.
  • Treat your combo like HP. Missing one same-color crystal resets it. If you can't reach a same-color crystal, shift dimensions to keep the chain alive.
  • Time Hyperdrive over crystal clusters. If you can see a dense same-color group two beats out, hold the trigger by collecting cyan crystals slowly until you arrive.
  • Magnet stacks with Prism Mode. Save your fourth yellow until you're in a 7+ combo and the world's about to flip rainbow.
  • Daily Challenge: do a Practice run first. Same biome rotation as the daily. Learn the hazard pattern, then attempt for real.
